editorial lady gaga

This took a while to post, but this was 1 of 2 of the final editorial assignment. The article was about how weird Lady Gaga is. She has 1 million weird outfits but I didn't want it to be "out of fashion" so it's just iconic gaga. The weirdo. This is relatively big, spray paint, acrylic & createx.
The mock-up if from the magazine, I didn't lay that out. more drawings and shit soon!

The last of the King days

This is my final piece for Paul King's class, my Dirty War piece about the human condition (the painting of my sketch from the last post.) I Sprayed a bronze base, then worked up the acrylic, and lots and lots of layers of words. The plays on these words themselves were what made the aftermath harder to cope with.

And this is a rough sketch for my final assignment for Illustration Methods, the second of the two pieces done editorially. This one's for an article in Bust magazine called "Sausage Party" about the vast outnumbering of boys to girls in China due to the one child per family law. By the time many of these guys start to look for spouses, they may find themselves S.O.L.
Had a lot of fun drawing this, I plan on doing it in acrylics& mixed media.

I also just got back one of my non-silver prints from the elective, so I'm probably going to scan a few of those soon. That was a really cool class, I would definitely recommend, it's a really interesting process.

coupla things

I want a lot more pictures on this thing. So, I scanned one of my first illustration methods projects, an old collage I did my sophomore year for an experimental portfolio piece, and a few sketchbook pages, one of which is for an assignment in Fig. utilization.

I call this one Baked, illustrating a word of our choosing. I get mellow just looking at this one, b&w done in acrylic, ink and charcoal. ( this is on here already but this one's better not -phone quality)

This was an experimental portfolio piece sophomore year, done with collaged photographs I took in Miami and a few other materials.

I really couldn't even explain this beyond "Kermit and the Skeleton Love", and I can't explain that at all.

The baddest bitch, with authentic cat-scratch blood smear

and my sketch for my final fig. utilization assignment. We took a cute little field trip to the Mutter museum, and all in all I took nothing from it. The assignment is about the human condition, our fragility and strength, and I took all my inspiration from a book I am currently reading, A lexicon of Terror. The book is about the Argentine Dirty War, this image is about the limits of the human mind and body and the affects of torture on a person. The Desaparecidos were tortured endlessly and were constantly being subjected to a cruel spin on everyday vocabulary in disgusting contexts. "On a mal dans sa peau" from the text meaning "we are uneasy in our skin" is the phrase I included along side, for the final it may create the entire background. That's all for now, Semester is nearing its end which means more to come!

Choy-Yung Inn at Cross street

2nd to last assignment for Fig. Utilization, to portray a space that conveys a certain mood. I picked the Chinese food place down the street from here. It's dirty and hood and has everything you could ever want! condoms to candy to newport 100 loosies to ice cream in a take-out container! We love Dutch chocolate and eggrolls! and I love that place, even thought it's shady and I avoid it at dusk. So, here they are, they could all use some more time, but what couldn't? One main illustration, and two spots.
