As of now in April

It's April! And as of this past Tuesday the senior show is down, and it was a hell of a lot easier taking down than putting up. I had to snap a really quick phone picture of my set up before I took it down.

It's a little sad that the show doesn't stay up forever, but all our senior glory aside, there is much more work to be done for portfolio day, and it's okay anyway because the senior photo show is going up pretty soon, and we can all go see the work of the talented Juliet Bastianelli! She's doing some sick ass non-silver prints from her native outer space home and I got a little preview. The stuff's looking good so keep an eye out for that show, same location 320 s. Broad st. Besides that good stuff, I've been fighting the burnout side of me, and I think I just skipped over a close encounter with senioritis, so more work to come soon! Here's some new floating people! And there's also new images up on my website, so check it out. lagonza.com

Came out of the black hole...

Known as my desk, doing the work known as ELY. And here it is! Out of context, these are just the paintings themselves. They are a series of editorial works correlating with articles about various topics relating to youth culture. In order, the content of the paintings address gay suicide, the Larry Clark film 'Wassup Rockers', dating violence prevalent among bisexual teens, and prescription drug addiction worsened by the easy availability of medication from pain clinics such as in FL. For the show each of these will be presented in print form along side their corresponding articles. The show is on Sunday, March 20th at 320 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA. There is going to be a ridiculous amount of awesome artwork hanging and some munchies and good times and whatnot, so come! support! It's undoubtedly worth checking out.

Biggest Ups

Just because I scanned it by accident in black and white, and also for the sake of having more imagery on this to look at, heres two of the same exact picture. Done for a t-shirt design for target market assignment number 2 last semester, color version. If you're cool you'd wear this shirt, I know this because I am cool somedays, and somedays I would wear this shirt. I'm honestly more likely to wear that chain, or daydream about rocking those big ups, but the point is I draw some silly shit, and ya'll love it, I know. I don't have a lot more to say.

Poster: Ely 2011

We were all asked to design a poster for the Ely, the senior thesis show, which is on March 20th or something like that. February 8th however, cannot come soon enough. A lot of time... all our time, and energy is going into this show, at least for the next 3 weeks, so go to it! 320 S. Broad St. Philadelphia. It's going to be a really good show, there's a lot of awesome work going up by awesome people. My poster wasn't picked, but I'm actually happy with how it turned out. Thats always a plus.

my favorite naked people

are the ones who pose for me. I scanned these a little while ago, they are from my figure drawing class junior year. It was a great class, and I have really missed drawing naked people ever since. We saw some pretty interesting characters, always a good time. I need more figure drawing in my life! I ought to look into those get-togethers.

super disco breakin'

This is a painting from earlier in the semester, based on a memoir. This painting is about my brother's influence on me and the things he got me into. It is a work in progress, more will be added to the top left by the end of the semester...which is coming up pretty fast. ah!
